The Author
Rusty Reece is an author born and raised in California, with a background in mathematics and a long career in aerospace and teaching. His passion for science fiction and fantasy, sparked by reading J.R.R. Tolkien, influenced the style of this first book.
Early Life and Education
Rusty was born near San Diego, moved to Eureka at age fourteen, graduated high school in 1967, earned a BA in Mathematics from Occidental College in1971, and an MA from the University of Colorado in 1973. He chose family over PhD studies after his first daughter was born.
Career and Interests
Rusty worked in aerospace for 32 years, starting part-time at JPL during college, and taught mathematics at El Camino Community College for 15 years. He has been an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy since age twelve.

The Book
Why the title of the book ‘The Warrior & The Dragon’ you might well ask? The reason is simple; Jason the main protagonist takes on the configuration of both, giving him a split personality which allows him to achieve his objectives. What he accomplishes as a warrior and what he fulfils as a dragon is quite revealing.
For those of you that love a blend of science fiction and fantasy this first-time book of Rusty’s will be ideal for you if you’re looking to add a new author to your collection. Weary from the Succession War, Jason seeks peace in Smoky Springs. Tasked with delivering an athame and unlocking his inner magic, he is pursued by Erlender, a necromancer who covets the Kalasha he carries. He meets Akela, a wolf who can take on a human form. Akela assists Jason to transform into a dragon. In his dragon form Jason accomplishes things that he is unable to do so as a man, such as protecting the community from kidnapping attempts. Jason teaches his people how to protect themselves especially from evil sorcerers from the beyond. Cold whispers from chilling windsafter six years of endeavours leave Jason in a compromising position. What is that scenario? To find that out, with all the spills and thrills that form the backdrop to this fast-paced book, you’ll simply have to get the book to discover who did what and when.
