Harry Houdini was always able to escape from seemingly hopeless situations. He could be handcuffed, put in a straight jacket, locked in a trunk and dropped into the sea, and he would always find a way to escape. Humanity is helplessly in bondage to fleshly desires, temptation, sin, and death, and under the certain judgment of God. We are in a desperate, hopeless situation.
