The Way of Jesus (Part 10 of 12): "Insulted and Persecuted"
A summer series on the Beatitudes.
What’s the good life? And how do we pursue it? In Jesus’ (arguably) most famous teaching, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus invites us into the life of the Kingdom of God. For his first century hearers, all of their expectations and assumptions for where the good life with God was found were subverted and flipped on its head. It’s the same for us today.
As we pursue life with God together, we are called to apprentice ourselves to Jesus. To be with Jesus, to learn from Jesus, how to live like Jesus. And here we are invited into the upside-down, countercultural way of Jesus.
Listen to this week's sermon focusing on Matthew 5:11-12, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
