A summer series on the Beatitudes.
What’s the good life? And how do we pursue it? In Jesus’ (arguably) most famous teaching, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus invites us into the life of the Kingdom of God. For his first century hearers, all of their expectations and assumptions for where the good life with God was found were subverted and flipped on its head. It’s the same for us today.
As we pursue life with God together, we are called to apprentice ourselves to Jesus. To be with Jesus, to learn from Jesus, how to live like Jesus. And here we are invited into the upside-down, countercultural way of Jesus.
Listen to this week's sermon focusing on Matthew 5:13-16, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
