Do you remember what it was like to pursue your first love? Do you remember the lengths that you would go to be with the one you loved? That same devotion and commitment is what every believer should have with Jesus Christ. He should be our first love. But just like human love, love for Christ can wain. Our devotion to Him can be replaced by outward rituals. This is the situation that Jesus addresses in the church in Ephesus in Revelation 2. They looked good outwardly. They still had great works. But God sees what man can’t see. God sees the heart. He knows when love for Christ is waining.
