Legendary R&B / Pop artist, Joe Tex, gained international fame during the 1960's 

and the 1970's, with his cross-genre mix of R&B, gospel and country, becoming 

known to the music world as Southern Soul. He was known in the R&B community 

as the 'country preacher'. His nemesis was the Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
