I don’t know if it’s even considered big beer news, but it sounds like BrewDog might be broken up and sold, which gives you a chance to own your own evil empire if you’re in the market for it! We talk about that, we drink some beers, and we talk about the Ohio Beer Awards.

It’s not that I don’t like winter, but when it drags on like this, I just sort of get “done” with it. That’s where I’m at right now. I’m done with winter. It doesn’t help that there is more than a foot of snow on the ground, does it? I opened up a can of a fantastic IPA, Head Hunter from Fat Heads, and we rolled through some local drinking news, and some label approvals that give us some good hints at what might be coming down the road from our local breweries and distilleries.

Was it fun? Yeah, it was fun. Did it help my winter fatigue? Nope, not at all.

Let the mixed messages to consumers continue. It feels like we’re in the middle of a battle between drinkers and non-drinkers, and most “normal folks” aren’t even paying attention. Is craft beer in danger? Is it doomed to failure? I suppose that depends on who you ask, or what articles you have been reading, but I think it’s a complicated answer. I knew it was going to happen, and yet… it still manages to catch me off guard, every time. We dove in with something that I DID plan for – this year’s Higher Gravity Beervent Calendar. The pick today was a bottle of Boulevard’s Rum Barrel-Aged Pecan Pie Brown Ale – and not to spoil the surprise for you – it’s freaking amazing.
