In classic Mercury retrograde fashion, we recorded this episode early Friday before news broke that the U.S. and Israel took military actions against Iran. The U.S. is, once again, at war. Of course, even the term "war" is debated in our rotten post-modern world. Technically, in the U.S., only Congress has the ability to declare war. The confusion, deception, and fog of war are key symbols of February and March. Unfortunately, us astrologers have been expecting something like this conflict for months.
I'm writing late on Friday, Feb. 27, and we're in the middle of volatile, angry energy after Mars squared Uranus earlier today. This weekend we build toward a Full Moon eclipse opposite Mars. That opposition (Moon vs. the planet of conflict) looks grim given the news breaking right now. Since we recorded the episode before this news broke, make sure to listen with that context in mind. My prayer for this new era is that we find a way to collectively stop this endless conflict. Enough!

I originally began this column by writing the following: Forecasting March is difficult because we’re in it. Mercury just stationed retrograde Wednesday, making it hard to read the current moment. Plus! We’re in the middle of eclipse season: the Moon’s light is growing as I write this column, and it will turn blood red on Tuesday. The eclipses are literal shadows and always correlate with unpredictable events. All-in-all, the dust will need to settle in March before we can take decisive action forward. But there will be moments of clarity, and the shift to Aries on March 20 will be a welcome ignition. Bring it on, I say.
The best approach to March is to slow down and witness what unfolds. We’ll begin to stabilize after the eclipse on March 3, but a Mercury retrograde means we have a little more reviewing to do. Yes, I know we’re all impatient after the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries. Trust me, it will happen. Whatever you want “it” to be. Containing impatience is the best and hardest practice of 2026 (especially this first quarter). By April, it’s all Aries, all the time.
Note that the Mercury retrograde begins near Venus but ends near Mars. That could feel like a fakeout as we blend peace and harmony at the start of the month and end it with sharp words around March 20. That date is also the vernal equinox, and the Sun will cross the point of the supernova Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Take note of March 20 (+/-), and all that is happening in your life right now. We’re in historic times: documenting the present moment will yield huge rewards in the coming months and years. This Mercury retrograde is the final review before 2026 launches us into the future.
Take advantage of any momentum you feel this month, whether or not it’s astrologically significant. We all need to work with how the energy flows in our personal lives. Some good days: Jupiter stationing direct on March 10 and a Mars-Jupiter trine on March 21.

Monthly DetailWeek 1: Eclipse Part II. How are you letting go of toxic perfectionism in your life? Can you focus on the big picture and allow details to come later? Notice the vibe shift as Mars and Venus both change signs.
March 2: The fog of war. Mars enters Pisces. After taking some electric stabs at Pluto and then Uranus while in Aquarius, Mars now enters the wet, foggier sign of Pisces for the rest of March. To some extent, this could cool down overheated tempers. But it could also be associated with the fog of war (Pisces is fog and Mars is conflict). In your personal life, find ways to energize the area of your life containing Pisces. Be aware of misdirection and confusion, however, especially with Mercury retrograde at the same time, in the same sign. March has moments where we move forward, but clarity really comes in April. Move slowly and deliberately. This is not the month to rush.
🩸🌝 March. 3: Blood Moon eclipse in Virgo 12 degrees. The Full Moon will turn blood red in the sky for parts of Asia, most of the Pacific, and western North America. This eclipse is continuing a story that began in January 2025, had a poignant moment around March 14, 2025, and another chapter around Sept. 21, 2025. This lunar eclipse could be tense since the Moon opposes Mars (newly in Pisces) right before being eclipsed by the shadow of the Earth. Fortunately, the Full Moon is also in close sextile to Jupiter in Cancer. That could provide a silver lining. Take note of what’s changing in your life, and of any sudden new beginnings or endings. Find ways to let go of perfectionism and control – two shadow aspects of Virgo that you want to shed on an eclipse. After all, eclipses are astronomical shadows.
March 4: Sparks of love. Venus in Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees. The day after the eclipse, Venus will make its final sextile with Uranus while that planet of change and disruption finishes its time in Taurus. We might see some communal agreements over nature, food, labor, and the monetary systems we share. This day is another silver lining after a difficult eclipse.
March 5: Highlight abundance. Sun in Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer at 15 degrees. The best astrology of the week, circle this day and watch the Sun shine a light on the slow-growth, abundant nature of Jupiter. Yes, Jupiter in Cancer has been blocked by Saturn and Neptune earlier in 2025 and, more recently, by Chiron in Aries. In the middle of a strange and foggy Pisces season, look for new growth in the cold forest floor. Spring. Is. Coming.
March 6: Go it alone. Venus enters Aries. Venus changing signs will correlate to a few weeks that emphasize independence, freedom, and going it alone. Venus is Aries is an oxymoron since the planet of connection and peace has opposite themes to the sign of individuality and (sometimes) conflict. While this could add to the tense vibe in the collective this month, reflect in your personal life on March and April 2025. In those months, Venus retrograded through Aries and began a new 8-year cycle in some part of life. What new changes are beginning to emerge?
March 7: Clarity, contracts, and technology. Mercury cazimi at 16 degrees Pisces. Venus conjoins Neptune at 1 degree Aries. On the best day of any Mercury retrograde cycle, the Sun appears to swallow Mercury whole and begin a new cycle. This day is the one you want to use for clarity, signing contracts, and buying new technology — otherwise wait until mid-April, if you can. On the same day, Venus will connect with Neptune, perhaps reactivating the game-changing Saturn-Neptune conjunction from February. With Neptune involved, how are you dreaming a new way to be independent, free, and pioneering in your life?
March 8: Relationships, restricted. Speak your truth. Venus conjoins Saturn at 2 degrees Aries. Mercury in Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer at 15 degrees. Right after connecting with the dreamier planet of Neptune, Venus will hit a stop sign when it conjoins Saturn this day. This astrology happens once a year, but it’s always a little bit of a bummer. The vibe will be very different from 2025 when Venus conjoined Saturn three times in Pisces, a sign that’s more prone to sticky sadness, and heavy oceanic feelings. This year, Venus is meeting up with Saturn in Aries for the first time since the late 1990s. If Venus represents values, how can you accept some limits for a little bit? Patience is key in March and April. On the same day, Mercury will help us communicate abundantly and connect the dots with long-term change in one area of life. Look back to what began around June 9 and has slowly grown since that date. Mercury might also help us re-evaluate relationships right now, given the Venus conjunction with Saturn today. Use this Mercury retrograde to write down everything you can: reflect, reflect, reflect.
Week 2: The second week is quieter but contains one of my favorite days of March when Jupiter stations direct. This change will help us move forward and seek opportunities for growth. We’ll also continue to watch the aftermath of eclipse season from the foggy lens of Mercury retrograde. Stay grounded and double-check your work.
March 9: Evolving love. Venus in Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius at 4 degrees. After separating from a restrictive conjunction with Saturn, Venus makes a helpful connection to Pluto, the planet of evolution and power. Is something changing positively in your relationship power dynamics? How are you evolving your values, relationships, and ability to receive? This energy will be repeated once a year for almost two decades. It’s time to seize the independent nature of Aries and grow.
🐬 March 10: Progress can be linear. Jupiter stations direct 15 degrees. Perhaps my favorite day of the month! Jupiter, planet of abundance, growth, and optimism will appear to stop in the sky and move forward through the zodiac again. I always circle this day and notice what arises in my life, and then I look forward to more forward momentum afterward. Jupiter in Cancer may still struggle this year because of its square to Chiron and other planets in Aries — so don’t expect a panacea. But we’ll seize all the astrological help that we can find.
March 13: Drive and conflict. Mars conjoins North Node in Pisces at 8 degrees. This day is tense and an exclamation point on the “fog of war” I mentioned about Mars moving through Pisces during March. What is coming to a head in the world? How are we being compassionate without enmeshing ourselves in others’ to our detriment? Cooler heads prevail around March 13. You can also take note of what’s driving forward in the part of your chart containing Pisces.
March 14: Cutting poetry. Mercury conjoins Mars in Pisces at 10 degrees. Right after Mars conjoins the North Node, it will come together with Mercury, planet of communication. Sharp words are the theme of the day, and that means the tension of March 13 could spill into the weekend (March 14 is a Saturday). We’ve had an unusual number of conjunctions between Mars and Mercury since October 2025: what are you learning about the power of words? How can you sharpen your clarity but avoid being unnecessarily hurtful? We should all meditate on this tricky balancing act around March 14.
Week 3: Mercury retrograde ends, Aries season begins, and we get another bout of planetary ignition to drive life forward. Don’t sleep on the New Moon, which is a potent new start for the next six months.
🌚 March 18 - Part 1: Innovative dreams. New Moon in Pisces at 28 degrees. Moon and Sun sextile Uranus in Taurus at 28 degrees. Something about this New Moon could feel like a mild-mannered breakthrough and change after weeks of foggy, sluggish Pisces energy. We’re so close to the end, this Pisces New Moon represents a finality of sorts. As always, release what’s not working for you and write down what you want to nurture for the next six months. August has a Full Moon in Pisces that’s also an eclipse. It will be a big lunar cycle to watch! Plus, eclipse season is now officially over as the Moon returns to normal duties until August.
March 18 - Part 2: Go it alone vs. family values; plus breakthroughs. Venus in Aries squares Jupiter in Cancer at 15 degrees. Sun in Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus at 28 degrees. The Venus-Jupiter square might highlight tension in your personal goals and community, the Sun sextile Uranus can spur tingly breakthroughs. Are you having to assert your independence with Venus in Aries while also finding ways to take care of our families and communities with Jupiter in Cancer? Notice the tension, don’t act on it, and see what growth you can find in the resolution of any conflict. The Sun’s sextile with Uranus can be a light shock or a helpful spark. Focus on what you want to break free.
⏩ March 20: Sun enters Aries. Mercury in Pisces stations direct at 8 degrees. Two days after the New Moon, the Sun enters zero degrees Aries. It does this every year on the vernal equinox, when night and day are equal (spring in Northern Hemi; fall in Southern). This year, however, the Sun will be reactivating the Major Reset of 2026: the Saturn-Neptune conjunction on Feb. 20. Expect to see themes continue of the global elite being outed in the Epstein Files, rapid advancements in AI, and changes to Earth.
March 21: Words to care for. Mars in Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer at 15 degrees. How are you compassionately driving forward and expanding in this new era? This day is one of the best of the month and could help soothe any tension from yesterday’s vernal equinox. Use Mars’ bold energy to be heroic, nurturing, and supportive to those around you. We might see bold gestures in the world, but let’s manifest soft landings with a newly powerful Jupiter moving direct.
March 22: New dreams and bold illusions. Sun conjoins Neptune in Aries at 1 degree. The Sun will continue to highlight the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, first by conjoining Neptune in the sky and then Saturn a few days later. This day we might shine a light on our biggest dreams, boldest fantasies, and new inspiration. With Saturn nearby, these might still feel limited, or out of reach. Keep the dream alive and realize that anything is possible with some Saturnian hard work.
Week 4+: The final week (and then some) continues the tense reactivation of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction that began on March 20. The end of March also offers a promise of some healing, if you choose yourself. The month ends with a notable vibe shift when Venus enters Taurus. Enjoy.
🛑 March 25: Impatient vibes. Surrender to evolve. Sun conjoins Saturn in Aries at 4 degrees. And the Sun in Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius at 5 degrees. A few days ago, the Sun highlighted our new ambitions in this age of Neptune in Aries. The reality, hard work, and restriction might be more of the focus today. Most likely, impatience will be felt widely, in your personal life and worldwide. Saturn in Aries makes us want to rush, even if we’re not quite ready. Your mantra: time is not linear, and Rome was not built in a day. Step-by-step, you will build the future you desire.
❤️ March 26: Brave healing. Venus conjoins Chiron in Aries at 25 degrees. Venus meets up with Chiron once a year, and this meetup is one of the final times in Aries. Chiron briefly dips into Taurus this summer, beginning an entirely new healing journey for the first time since 2018. Until then, what have you learned about Chiron in Aries? How are you healing your need for independence and freedom? Can you use vision to move past long-standing blocks? Today offers a moment of making huge progress if you let it. Look to the part of your chart containing Aries for more clues.
March 28: Restructuring power. Saturn in Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius at 5 degrees. While this astrology might not be felt personally, given how far the planets are, it will certainly mark an important moment in the collective. Saturn’s boundaries and structure will help guide and settle the vast evolutionary changes of Pluto in Aquarius. Perhaps we’ll see some guardrails on AI. Or maybe a dialogue about power and wealth (Pluto themes), especially in the tech sphere (Aquarius). In your personal life, this day is another important reminder of the power of patience and long-term vision over the coming years.
March 30: Earthly delights. Venus enters Taurus, one of its home signs. The month ends on a sweet note, with Venus entering the luxuriating, grounded, self-care sign of Taurus. Venus will be in Taurus for most of April, providing some genuinely needed ground as the storm brews and collective desire for action is ignited. Buckle your seatbelts, April is almost here.
