Ep 15
The Weight of Advent
Advent marks the beginning of a new Liturgical year. Comprising the four Sundays prior to Christmas Day, Advent is the period during which we anticipate the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Most would agree that it is difficult to balance the solemnity and the pressures of the season. The latter being a result of secularism that has largely co-opted the season, filling the four weeks leading to Christmas with pressure, or weight. Fr. Myers reminds us that like Lent, Advent is a penitential season, a time to repent and draw closer to Christ. He provides simple tips to help us restore solemnity to Advent for ourselves and our loved ones.
