The Whiskey Trip - Ep. 28 - Michael Langan , GM & Head Distiller - Yellow Rose Distilling

This week on The Whiskey Trip Podcast, Big Chief traveled West to Houston, Texas to visit Yellow Rose Distilling and their Head Distiller, Michael Langan. Yellow Rose is known for their Outlaw Bourbon that has a 100 % Yellow Dent Corn Mash bill. The whiskey has changed a lot in the past 5 years since the big man first tasted it. It’s gained that outlaw spice that he was looking for with its name. In the first half, Big Chief and Michael start with a sample of their Outlaw Bourbon that is still a few years from being released.  At two years and barrel strength, it surprised Big Chief. In the second half Michael treats Big Chief to a special pour from a Crowded Barrel blend for The Texas Whiskey Festival that includes their Outlaw Bourbon. This blend was made up of 3.5 yr. Old Bourbon from San Luis spirits, 2 yr. old Bourbon from Shire Distilling and 4 yr. old Bourbon from Yellow Rose Distilling. At 116.1 proof this is a big, bold, beautiful Texas whiskey.
