Disappointment
The final book in this series was disappointing. The personalities of the main characters were not built up and were actually a bit boring to me. The story line was a bit choppy, so that if I hadn't read the first three books, I wouldn't have been able to connect the characters to the events in this book. I did finish the book but felt it didn't satisfy the action and drama that I looked for from Carla Neggers. I won't be re-reading this one.

Excellent storyline. Always a good read from Carla Neggers.
Sixpence as it should be
I never become bored when reading a book by this author. I would rate this book as five star. I truly enjoy a book that I cannot wait to get back to. I read mostly at night and catch myself thinking of the book and trying to figure the ending. I have never been able to with a book Carla Neggar has written.
2% Romance Novel, 2% Mystery, 96% History Book
In a word, this book was teeth-grindingly boring. There are too many characters, too much history and lead characters that we don't know enough about emotionally to care about. Don't waste your money.

I have followed this writer throughout her stories. The connected family stories are most enjoyable.
