The White Stone - Your True Identity

Listen Later

Steve speaks on The White Stone — a message about identity, and the names we carry that were never meant for us.

He opened with a simple but penetrating question: Who are you — really? Not the version you perform at work or hold together at parties. Not the name your worst mistake gave you, or the label your past stuck to your chest. The real you.

He traced the root of our identity crisis back to the Garden, where Adam and Eve — already made in the image of God, already enough — were convinced they needed to grasp at something more. That wound, Steve said, has been with us ever since. The restless ache of Am I enough? Am I loved? Do I belong? And in the absence of a clear answer, we've let other people answer it for us — through cruelty, silence, failure, and shame.

But Jesus answers that question directly. Steve took the church to Revelation 2:17, where Jesus promises a white stone engraved with a new name — personal, secret, whispered to you alone. In the ancient world, a white stone in a courtroom meant one thing: not guilty. Acquitted. Free. And the name on it wasn't just about what you're cleared of — it was about who you actually are. Fully known, every corner and every shadow, and fully loved anyway.

To close, Steve handed every person in the room a physical white stone and read out 22 declarations of who God says they are — adopted, chosen, forgiven, seen, enough, healed, brave — and invited people to write on their stone whichever word landed hardest. The one that made something in them ache, because part of them didn't quite believe it yet.

The invitation was simple: set down the names that were never his. Pick up the stone.
