"The Wild Robot" Is About to Go Underwater

Listen Later

There are several bumps in "The Wild Robot," which is broken up into episodes. The start is told in such a well-rounded and humorous style that you realize it ends with regret, not because any of the portions are poor. Similar to the initial flashback minutes of Pixar's "Up," the first thirty minutes alone are a masterwork of animation. Following that, it takes some time to delve as thoroughly into the recently revealed tale concerning the young gander Brightbill's struggle for acceptance and his quest to find his place in the natural world. Sending chores to a customer is the only reason Roz, a personal robot, was dispatched there. She encounters odd circumstances, nevertheless, as her shuttle crashes on a barren planet.
