The wise men here highly educated pagans - they were outsiders to Israel

This was not their story - not their promise, but God invited them into it

They saw a star, and had access to, or knowledge of some Hebrew scriptures and that was enough for them to start an incredible faith journey that ended with them worshipping at the feet of Jesus.
