A young girl transported from her home by a powerful storm into a fantastical realm. Seeking a way back to her family, she travels the yellow road alongside a scarecrow, a tin woodman, and a lion, each of whom desires a personal quality they believe they lack. Their quest leads them to the Emerald City, where they must confront the Wicked Witch of the West before they can receive help from a mysterious leader. Although this leader is eventually revealed to be a fraud, he manages to provide the group with the wisdom, emotion, and courage they sought. The materials also feature a picture dictionary and various educational activities designed to help young readers learn English vocabulary and basic sentence structure.
