New Jersey is the diner capital of the world. Surprisingly though, we have not had a diner on the show so far! Well today we are fixing that and what a diner to start off with! The Jefferson Diner, located in Lake Hopatcong, is consistently recognized as one of the top diners in not only Morris & Sussex counties, but the entire state. Co-owners and brothers Jimmy & Nick Seretis have essentially spent their entire lives in the industry and have pioneered both diner aesthetics and menu items during their time owning the Jefferson Diner, which many other diners have since adopted.

Segment 1
The sons of Greek immigrants, Jimmy & Nick grew up in Dover and spent the majority of their childhood in their parents’ luncheonette. Growing up in the business,  Nick & Jimmy are now co-owners of the Jefferson Diner for the last 38 years. We learn all about how the business started, the expansions they've made, and what life is like running one of the best diners in the state.

Today in New Jersey History: Melissa Gorga was born on March 21, 1979 and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. She is best known for being in the cast of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New Jersey."

Segment 2
Not only is Jefferson Diner known for its quality, it is also a pioneer in the diner world. The Jefferson Diner is one of the first diners to put neon lights on the outside of the building and put televisions on the wall. They are also one of the first diners to introduce gyros, sliders, and other seemingly standard item to its menu for its customers. Whether you're at the Jefferson Diner for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or something late night, there is an energy here that is unparalleled.

New Jersey Fun Fact: New Jersey has about 9,000 farms in the state and even though there has been a reduction in farmland, the number of farms in the state is actually increasing.

Segment 3
After a fill up on our coffees from Jackie and a surprise visit from Nick & Jimmy's parents, we discussed how important community is for the Jefferson Diner and the area as a whole. Nick & Jimmy are always trying to support local organizations, because it was something they saw their parents do and simply because it is the right thing to do. Community was a big part of Nick & Jimmy's childhood and we talk about the importance of continuing to support our communities.
