Possibly one of the most important significant years of the modern age and so very fitting that we have our very funny friend Ed Night to help us make sense of it all. 2001 brings with it a revolutionary website known as Wikipedia that has informed this podcast on more than one occasion, Richard Reid the "shoe bomber" forever changes aeroplane travel by trying to blow up a transatlantic with a bomb hidden in his shoe, the first artificial heart is implanted in Robert Tools in the United States, Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal kills his father, the king, his mother and other members of the royal family with an assault rifle and then shoots himself in the Nepalese Royal Massacre, Sherpa Temba Tsheri becomes the youngest person to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and Marco Siffredi was the first to descend tallest mountain in the world on a snowboard in 2001, Apple releases the first generation mp3 playing behemoths, the iPod, and American Airlines Flight 587 crashes minutes after take off. Also something known as 9/11 happens in New York City on September 11th which we briefly touch on.
