In today’s episode we’re talking about the years we wasted trying to be “chill” and “not like other girls”. If you were born in the late 80’s early 90’s you likely swam in similar water. The early 2000’s Rom Com Era followed by the 2010’s “Hipster Era all reinforced that liking popular (especially feminine/age appropriate) stuff was “lame” “cringy”

• Messages we received growing up about suppressing our desires/interests especially around traditionally feminine things

 

• Any masculine interests/hobbies we perceived as better/more valuable in some way

 

• How the “not like other girls” trope impacted us

 

• If we’ve ever pretended to like something or to NOT like something so we’d be seen as cool/chill/not like other girls? 

 

• Examples of ways we suppressed our true nature to seem more masculine/cool/chill/less needy (in relationships, work, friendships) - (aka times we tried to “not be like other girls”)

 

• Some “basic” things that we like now
