Gilman’s famous story features an un-named young woman, newly married and in possession of a “nervous disposition” who fixates on the yellow wallpaper in her room, part of the house her husband has taken for a few weeks to speed her recovery. But there’s little chance of that. The wallpaper isn’t just ugly and unsightly; something seems to be lurking behind it.
