This episode focuses on hearing the harmony for the "Turnaround" chord progression:
C - Eb7 - Ab - Db7 transposed to all 12 Keys!
Exercise 1: Arpeggiate the Chords
- Root - Major 3rd - P5 - Octave
- Now you sing the arpeggios while I play the chords
Exercise 2: Arpeggiate the b7 on the Dominant Chords
- Root - Major 3rd - P5 - b7 (where applicable)
- Now you sing the arpeggios while I play the chords
Exercise 3: Melodic Connecting Exercise Example 1 in Aebersold's Book
- 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 of the 1st 3 chords; 8've - 5 - 3 - 1 Down the Neapolitan II Chord
- Now you sing the exercise while I play the chords
We explore this exercise in all 12 keys traveling counterclockwise around the circle of 5ths:
C Major --> F Major --> Bb Major --> Eb Major --> Ab Major --> Db Major -->
F# Major --> B Major --> E Major --> A Major --> D Major --> G Major
