Welcome to a new episode of the podcast by PMHNPs for Everyone. In this episode we review who Hildegard Peplau was and her impact on the entire nursing profession. Dan tricks the group with doing 2 truths and a lie about Peplau’s accomplishments. The conversation turns to discussing the role of using medications to treat psychiatric disorders and along with or instead of psychotherapy. We review the humanistic aspect of caring for people with mental health problems and the importance of using psychotherapy along with medications. We also discuss the use of psychotherapy in community mental health centers and share our dreams of using more psychotherapy for those with and without mental disorders. Tune in!
