Overview: If this world is all there is, there is no reason to preach. We preach not about what we can do for God, but what God is doing for us. There is a vast banquet coming, and many are invited. The entrance to the kingdom is repentance. it is a very narrow passage and only a few of those invited will enter. Way more people assume they will be saved than, than who actually will. They assume they are good and special and will certainly be there. Jesus is attacking false assurance. People talk about themselves so much, yet they need to stop talking about themselves and listen to to what God is saying about them. You don't get into the kingdom of God automatically by dying. You get in by repenting. The question is not, -Will only a few be saved--, but -Will those few be you-- The solution to false assurance is not more effort, but to completely trust in Christ--the complete opposite to the commonly held ideas of Jesus' day. There will be such confusion at the entrance to the door of the banquet. Many who thought they would enter, end up being locked outside. They will claim they know Him. The opportunity is limited. In fact, this current life is your one and only opportunity to enter the kingdom, and you don't know when it will be over. There is a door, regardless of who goes through, into the kingdom of heaven. Death, be warned, takes you by surprise.
