The ancient African proverb says that it takes a village to raise a child. If that is true, then it is equally true that it takes a church to raise a believer. There is strength in community, as we see in Exodus 17:8–13. We will consider this text under four broad headings:

(1) The Attack (v. 8)

(4) The Aftermath (v. 13)
