Countess Erzsébet Báthory — known to many as Elizabeth Bathory — has a gory reputation. The Hungarian noblewoman, along with companions who shared her sadistic interests, is believed to have tortured and killed hundreds of girls and women between 1590 and 1610. But did she really bathe in blood and eat human flesh?
