Hebrews 10:19-25.
Having hit his crescendo last week, our Conductor/Author now moves on to what in musical terms we’d call a bridge. Like a bridge in a song that connects lyrics back to the chorus, the bridge of verses 19-21 serves to connect the first ten and a half chapters of right thinking to right living. What the Author knows is that it is never enough for us, as Christians, merely to understand the truth. We must also make a proper response to it. Therefore, because of who Jesus is and what Jesus has done—the question is, “So what?” The answer is the main point of the sermon: By the blood of Jesus our great priest, we have confidence to draw near, hold fast, and stir up.
