The term influencer has come to be known across social media platforms as people who have knowledge or expertise in certain areas of life and culture. But what does a Christian influencer look like? Listen in as Elizabeth Ranade Janis shares about her personal journey of advocacy and leadership on our first episode of the Influencer Series.
Elizabeth Ranade Janis serves as Senior Safeguarding Advisor for World Vision where she leads United States’ efforts to prevent harm and abuse of vulnerable children and adults served through relief and development programs around the world. Over the last 15 years, Elizabeth has built and championed large-scale programs, policies and initiatives to serve and empower vulnerable, marginalized and exploited individuals domestically and abroad.
She has led the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, created by Governor John R. Kasich. Elizabeth also developed and worked to implement the first comprehensive statewide response to sex and labor trafficking. She has previously worked in international humanitarian relief and anti-human trafficking programs in Eastern Europe and Southern Africa.
In recent years, she also served as Executive Director for a Christian legal aid organization in Northern Virginia and has provided strategy consulting to various anti-human trafficking NGOs.
Elizabeth holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development from the Ohio State University. She lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband James and their two children. In her spare time, Elizabeth can be found in her hammock with a good book.
