Many people who’ve grown up in the church are repulsed by the call to repent - to give Jesus authority over their lives. We feel like we might miss out of we yield to Jesus. Yet, when the Apostle Peter entreated people to repent, he said something both strange and thrilling: “Repent...turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19-20). Throughout the season of Lent, leading up to Easter, we will be immersing ourselves in repentance with our eyes set on the hope that we, too, will experience times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.
