It’s Cinco de Mayo and we want to give our neighbor Mexico a shout out. Mexico has been getting no love in recent times and we’re here to make up for that. So this week we are covering stories featuring some interesting Mexican folks. Dana shares with us the incredible story of Amelio Robles Avila, a transgender male Colonel from Mexico. Nydia shares the story of history’s worst nun, Sor Juana. She was a feminist before it was a thing. Cindy shared some stories sent in by listeners.
For dinner this week, Cindy treated us to some birria tacos straight outta Tiktok. For dessert, she made a delicious chocoflan that tasted like pure happiness. The meal was paired with strawberry basil margaritas in honor of our neighbors to the south.
