The joy of opening a new bank account. The freedom to eat what we want at a brand new buffet. The relief we feel from choosing the right dentist. Are these really the high points? Is this what we live for? Do advertisers think that we are f@#!ing idiots?
Perhaps. Or perhaps they have tapped into a collective despair, an inability to sit quietly with ourselves. We fear loss, irrelevance, hardship, change...we seek some escape from the tyranny of our minds. So we gladly trade life for a series of distractions, anything to hide from the present.
Enough! We must not use life to simply dull the pain of living! Recognize the majesty of your being; the sanctity of your time; the scope of your potential. To hell with cheap trinkets and quick highs. These pale in comparison to who we are.
