Matthew 2.1-12 and Psalm 72.1-11
In this sermon we return to Epiphany, which is actually a season in the church year, lasting from January 6th until the day before Ash Wednesday. Today, we return to Matthew 2 so as to look at the Magi’s gifts to the Christ-Child. In this account we see three characteristics of their giving, which are instructive and inspirational to us all. Those three characteristics are that the Magi’s giving was Worshipful, Joyful and Intentional. As we begin this new calendar year at Grace, may we follow the guidance of the Magi in our giving even as they followed the guidance of the star that led them into the very presence of the King where they presented him with gifts.
