After the traumatic birth of their first child, Kelly and Eli found themselves in a struggling marriage and a life their former, adventurous selves wouldn't have recognized. Their attempt at revival was to hit the road for 11 months in a 1995 32' Fleetwood Bounder, after scrounging together the money to buy it and renting out their home.
Listen in as they talk with Chris and Deb about:
- where the typical, fear-driven American mentality led them--"Get a good education. Get a good job."
- what led up to their decision to dramatically change their daily life
- how they were able to make it happen
- their goals/hopes/dreams for the trip
- how reality compared with their aspirations
- the bests and worst of extended travel, with three people, in a confined space through all seasons
- how the trip allowed them to "dive into the darkness"
- what this decision did for their marriage and roles as parents
- why they decided to share it all in a documentary on Amazon
- what's happened in their lives since
- what we can expect from their new documentary, The Far Green Country 2: Diving Into the Darkness
Quotes from this episode:

- "Don't ask what the world needs, ask what makes you come alive and go do it." - John Eldredge
- "What can I say? I come alive on the road and in beautiful places, and at this point in my journey, I needed to come alive." - Kelly Pyke
- "The only difference between a roadblock and an adventure is my perspective." - Kelly Pyke
- "Beauty and wilderness, remote settings, places separate from the business of daily life...These places allow me to pause; to be present to each moment as it passes; to make room in my life to attend to the vulnerable places inside me. That seems to be the best place to cultivate change." - Kelly Pyke
