Nurturing Your Wellbeing With Denise

Thin Privilege, Diet Culture and Your Relationship With Food

Listen Later

Welcome to the first episode of the brand new season of The Confident & Eating Podcast! This season, I am bringing you a new word to focus on..and that is CURIOSITY.

Why curiosity?

Well, curiosity is what opened me up to the world of intuitive eating and it really embodies the message that I want to share this season.

When I was studying nutrition is that I thought I could help the world by telling them what to do and what to eat, but through learning about my own privilege and the world around us I learned that privilege and think privilege create situations that make it easy for some and not so easy for others.

So what has privilege got to do with your relationship with food?

In this episode I discuss:

  • The first moment I realised my own thin privilege when I was on holiday in Spain.

    • Why body size, willpower, shape and weight is largely out of our control.

      • What exactly is thin privilege and how diet culture has impacted this.

        • Why weight loss does not actually equal better health.

        • And don't forget to subscribe and follow the podcast so you never miss an episode.
