During the early part of 20th century AD, Jadonang started a political movement against the colonial British rule. In defiance and revolt against the British regime, he proclaimed "Makaam Guangdih" which the British had termed as the "Naga Raaj". For this, he was hanged at the gallows on the 29th August, 1931.
