South Africa yesterday (Monday) took stock of the first batch of AstraZeneca doses which arrived at the OR Tambo international Airport from India. The first one million shots of the vaccine will be used to inoculate healthcare workers amid a surge in infections fuelled by a new variant of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, Section 27 announced that they are joining the global call to the countries that are opposing South Africa and India’s call to make waive intellectual property rights on Covid-19 medicines and other technologies.
