Opposition parties have called on the Public Protector to hold the President to account on the Phala Phala matter. This is after the chapter nine institution did not disclose the answers to the 31 questions posed surrounding the investigation of the 2020 matter. After meeting yesterday, the joint statement also addressed the role of the Speaker of Parliament in the delay in response to the initial section 89 inquiry application submitted by the ATM and the dismissal of the DA's application to establish an ad-hoc committee. The opposition will meet again next week to set up committees in establishing a vote of no confidence.
