'Kaam' is realted to our physical needs and 'vaasna' exists in mind. When body and mind jointly love somebody, it is called 'sneh' while 'praney' develops at the level of intellect. So, 'Pyaar' involves submission of all our three assets – body (tann), mind (mann), intellect (dhann) and there comes the phases of union as well as separation. Ahead of it, lies the 'bhaav', whereby bodies may be apart but the intense feelings keep the lovers mentally united. 'Bhakti' however is the connection between our soul (aatma) and Supreme soul (Parmaatma). This involves permanent union and no separation yet devotees experience an irreplaceable bliss in calling their Lord out while their physical separation from Him is like a falling rain drop which is just about to reach the ocean. It can also be viewed as an infant lying in the lap of mother yet craving for her full embrace.
