"Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory" -1 Peter 1:8
Joy is not mustering up some emotion because someone else is happy or putting on the right face when you show up to church. It's something that comes naturally from the heart of one who knows what thy have! If you know what you have in Christ you have true and lasting joy.
If you're battling and you think that you can do the Christian life on your own efforts (do good or earn God's love and therefore His salvation) it's likely you are not living in the joy of the Lord. Remember if your good deeds could save you, then we would all have no hope. Eternal condemnation would be the only future for each and every one of us because we have all fallen short of the glory of God. In fact we cannot even follow all of our own rules we make for ourselves.
Joy is not found in our good works or in keeping from bad deeds…instead it's found in Christ the One who has fulfilled the law and conquered sin and death. He provides life without payment, we don't owe Him anything because we have noting to offer Him of any value.
True joy is an inward heart and feeling of emotion that comes from our position in Christ Jesus.
You don't need to run to temporary pleasures for you will not find joy in them. The glory of God has been revealed, He has come, He has conquered, and salvation is found in no one else. Only Jesus! This is Christmas.
We would love to pray with you today!
