This Dad Thing — My First Failed Attempt at Building a Brand
Before podcasting, before acquisitions, before LinkedIn — I tried building a dad blog.
It was called This Dad Thing.
I wanted to create affiliate income, run ads, build traffic, and eventually work from home while raising my kids.
Instead, I got:
• Burnout
• No traffic
• No revenue
• A handful of blog posts
• And a YouTube video about mulch
In this episode, I reflect on that early failure and why it shaped what I’m building today.
Sometimes the first attempt isn’t supposed to win.
