This is a very human thing to do and it is not a idolatry.

US Olympic Ice Skater Maxim Naumov lost his parents in that airplane and helicopter crash that happened famously last year. After a wonderful skate performance he held up a picture of his parents and kissed it.

If you are a consistent iconoclast , you need to be decrying his idolatry. But if you're reasonable, you realize he is simply honoring his parents and did not committing any weird form of idolatry in that moment.

And that is exactly what Catholics do with the saints. #short
