Goodbye, Make Your Day podcast – Hello, Building Balance.
A few years ago, I was putting all I had into building my photography business. This came at a cost to my health, I was missing out on the freedom and flexibility I thought I would have as a business owner, and the behind-the-scenes of my business kiiiinda felt like an overwhelming mess.
In 2018 I needed to find a way to grow my business without hustling and stretching myself so thin. I figured out small shifts I could make to simplify my business and run it with more ease, which allowed me to make space for all the things I love doing away from my desk. And now I help other creatives and small business owners do the same.
Hei – my name is Jenna, and this is Building Balance. On this podcast, I dig into ideas, strategies, and tools around how you can increase your time freedom as a business owner and make real progress without overworking. These ideas are based on a mix of my Nordic perspective, my education as a psychologist, and my personal experience as a business owner.
The loudest voices out there are saying that we have to be willing to sacrifice our health, our sleep, our relationships - basically our entire lives for the sake of success in business. And if we're not seeing the results we want, it means we haven’t done enough, pushed hard enough, or put enough work into our money mindset.
But it’s time we started treating ourselves as human beings, instead of machines on a production line.
In my work, I’ve learned that hustling endlessly actually makes it harder to be effective and to see success in business. We can make more time and space for ourselves, and see more growth at the same time, when we focus on our most impactful tasks – instead of piling on more tactics and strategies that don't feel right. When we feel well and do what comes more naturally to us, we show up better for our businesses and for the people we serve through them.
Building balance is a lifelong practice, but I 100% believe it's our best bet for happiness.
