To procrastinate is to be human. At least it feels that way. All of us struggle, in one area of life or several, with putting things off that we know we should do for one reason or another. The problem is that avoiding that decision, conversation or change often only makes the issue more difficult to deal with. It also compounds the stress and anxiety we already feel. What if we could identify the source of our motives for delayed action (and obedience) and find the faith and confidence to move forward? Looking at three interactions Jesus had with men in Luke 9, we let the Bible help us understand why we might struggle with moving forward, and take the time to pray for a new perspective and the faith it will take to do the right things at the right times.
