When it comes to your goals, are you interested or committed – and how do you know the difference?
Are you approaching your goals from a place of sufficiency and inevitability or lack, resignation and doubt?
That’s what I’m going to coach you on today.
Facts to consider first.I’M NOT SAYING EITHER IS RIGHT OR WRONG, HOWEVER I AM ASKING YOU TO CONSIDER THE CONCEPT OF INVESTING (TIME, ENERGY, MONEY) WITH AN UNDERLYING THOUGHT ON “I’M WILLING TO LOSE THAT IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT”.
In this epsiode I have 3 coaching questions to help you dig out the truth of why you might be dizzy goal setter vs a powerful goal achiever. There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you’ll do it only when it’s convenient. When you commit to something, you accept no excuses – only results. Kenneth Blanchard.
This doesn’t mean that people who only invest small ££ don’t get results. The difference is they are heavily invested with their thoughts about their goal and the standards they’re going to set themselves to make it happen.
It also isn’t a speech about never enjoying food again (‘m a massive foody).I simply invite you to be honest about if you recognise this behaviour in yourself.
SECOND WAY THIS SHOWS UP IS… THROWING MONEY AT SOMETHINGYou believe that you’re showing full commitment by investing more heavily in something to help you reach your goals.
NO IT DOESN’T
YOUR FINANCIAL INVESTMENT DOESN’T CHANGE THE THOUGHT ERRORS YOU HAVE ABOUT YOUR WORTH, ABILITY, EXPECTATIONS, PERSONAL STANDARDS, FEARS AND THE POTENTIAL PAIN THAT THIS GOAL MIGHT PRESENT YOU WITH
As someone who has coached people as a personal trainer and life coaching, I have seen this both of these thought processes at play.
