Prioritizing feeling good over doing good will harm people and that’s not the good life.
We’re born into a world where the normal ‘way’ to a good life is broken.
Our filter distorts:
Self-Centered vs Jesus-Centered
How do we keep our desire to ‘feel good’ from ruining our dream to ‘do good’?
“are the poor in spirit…are those who mourn …are the meek …hunger & thirst for righteousness…are the merciful …are the pure in heart …are the peacemakers …”
“You are like salt for the whole human race. You are like light for the whole world. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.”
Jesus teaches us:
…that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.
Jesus teaches us:
At the heart of a good life is our purpose not pleasure.
THINK: owed - fortunate
Our God-given purpose to do good overrides the pleasure of feeling good so we become rescuers not exploiters.
