Genesis 15:1-6 & Luke 2:22-38 (ESV) - On Saturday, we transition from one year to the next. Just like that, it’s January 1, and the new year has begun. In the busyness of the end of the holidays, it seems like Christmas is done and it’s time to shelve all the feelings and thoughts that it awakens in us. Even in the church, we risk going from praising the Lord for the baby Jesus one day to forgetting about His birth the next. This Sunday, we will read a passage from the Gospel of Luke that describes the infant Jesus being brought by His parents to the temple. When He arrived, several people realized who He was and what His coming meant. Even though Christmas 2021 is past, let’s remember that Jesus continues to have that same world-changing significance to us. In the Lord’s Christ, the Lord has given us light and comfort, and we will soon see why.
