Koans are paradoxical questions used in Zen practice to help us reach a deeper level of understanding instead of relying solely on our thinking, rational minds. 

You don’t have to be a Zen Master to develop the same kind of wisdom used in Koan study. Zen Priest Lawrence Dōan Grecco gave this dharma talk about how to approach your life in a way that enables clarity, appropriate choices, and a direct experience of the world.

This Koan Called Life

Lawrence Dōan Grecco is a Zen priest, Dharma Teacher and Life Coach. He was ordained by the Five Mountain Zen Order and is the founder and Abbot of Open Sky Zen, a nomadic Zen Center in New York City. 

Lawrence writes for Sweeping Zen, The Interdependence Project, and Open Sky Zen. 

He received authorization as a dharma teacher from the Interdependence Project, and holds a certificate in Foundations in Buddhist Chaplaincy from the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care.
