Man, it’s a milestone day! 100 freaking episodes. Time really has flown since we started chatting music with y’all. We’ve loved every minute so far.

So we invited Mike's dear college friend Madelaine Strickland to make a case for the soundtrack to a very contemporary musical - Lempicka by Carson Kreitzer and Matt Gould. Never heard of it? Not surprised. It didn't last 2 months on Broadway. But Madelaine thinks it deserved better, and she's making a case for it to join the pantheon and have a little more life.

We've been covering quite a few female artists this season, but finally, at long last, we have arrived at the Queen of Lilith Fair herself - Sarah McLachlan - and her early 90s masterpiece "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." (Which is NOT the one with the song that plays in all those commercials with the neglected puppies.) Our guest? Arguably better than ice cream. It's Chicago-based musician, music educator, and Erykah Badu fan Tim Fawkes, who is now the first person to invoke Meredith Brooks' name on the pod. Do we talk about Lilith Fair? Of course we do. Do we consider her place in the pantheon of talented Canadian singer-songwriters? Yes indeed. Do we connect the experience of listening to this album with an obscure SNL commercial parody? Guess you're going to have to listen to find out.

Also because we are committed to truth in journalism, we have a bit of fact checking on this episode: Michael and Tim did not see The Futureheads at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Philadelphia. They saw Gomez at the TLA. Glad that's all cleared up.
