Jenn and Laura go back in time to the Lularoe craze that swept social media. Lularoe was a clothing company who were first known for their maxi skirts and leggings that were super comfy and “buttery soft”. The pieces of clothing had bright colors and bold patterns. The company did not have a storefront, instead they distributed their clothing through consultants. Their company grew quickly as it gained more and more popularity on social media. Social media showed the success of many women, who were consultants and successful entrepreneurs from the comforts of their own homes.
In 2016, Jenn signed up to be a Lularoe consultant. In this episode Jenn and Laura cover why she onboarded with the company, her experience and why she left the company in just under a year. She also covers the issues that made her time as a MLM consultant unprofitable.
In early 2021 Lularoe settled a class action lawsuit in Washington State. Not admitting to any wrongdoing, Lularoe paid out a little under 5 million to former consultants. The state found Lularoe’s statements about profitability to be misleading. It was also found that the company violated Washington State’s Anti Pyramid Scheme Act.
