The HourTime Show

This Podcast's For You

Listen Later

Welcome back to another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com! It's just Victor and Nicholas this week, but don't worry: we actually talk about watches.

Before we get into the actual show notes, for next week we'd love to hear your top picks for best watches at $300 and $500, based on what you know now in your watch collecting journey. Please email us at [email protected] with your choices (we won't use your real name on air, unless you want us to). Thank you!

Back to this here episode, like many podcasts your humble hosts usually banter a bit before actually hitting the record button, and one of the topics in this week's Banter Session actually made it to the air, and that's the idea of watch companies turning some of their most popular models (think the Seiko Willard, the Tudor Black Bay, the Timex Q Reissue) into "platforms." These are watches that serve as a base for a million other watches that come later. The recently announced Seiko SPB237, which Nicholas loves but will retail for $1200 when it's released in June, is but one example: it's a Willard with a slightly fancier textured dial. This also prompts a discussion of whether or not Seiko has succeeded in its quest to move upmarket with its prices. Also in this week's episode: brief discussions on that Budweiser-branded G-Shock and some Dan Henry chronos

Thanks again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
