What happens when public trust is tested? How should police departments respond when allegations of misconduct emerge? And what lessons can communities, law enforcement agencies, and future generations learn from these challenges?
In The Mecklenburg Police Department: Trust, Accountability, and Reform, creator and narrator Dr. Sam Weah Monboe examines the events that sparked national conversations about policing, accountability, public trust, and institutional reform. Using developments involving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as a starting point, this documentary series explores the broader issues affecting law enforcement and communities across America. Over eight thought-provoking episodes, listeners will examine the foundations of public trust, the role of accountability in professional policing, the perspectives of communities and law enforcement officers, and the reforms that help strengthen relationships between those who serve and those they protect.
This series is not intended to determine guilt or innocence, replace official investigations, or serve as a legal review of any case. Instead, it seeks to educate, inform, and encourage constructive dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing modern policing.
Through historical context, thoughtful analysis, and practical lessons, Dr. Monboe explores how trust can be built, how accountability strengthens institutions, and how reform can help create safer and stronger communities.

Foundations of Trust
As America moves toward future presidential elections, citizens face an important responsibility: choosing who deserves the trust of the American people.
Why Should We Trust You With America? is a voter education documentary series created and narrated by Dr. Sam Weah Monboe and produced by Sam Monboe Studio Radio in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we create tomorrow's media today.
This series does not tell citizens who to vote for. Instead, it challenges voters to evaluate presidential candidates through the lens of character, integrity, accountability, transparency, and leadership.
In Part One, we examine the foundations of public trust. Topics include the importance of the presidency, criminal integrity, financial transparency, campaign financing, leadership judgment, and the qualities that should be expected from anyone seeking the highest office in the United States.
Designed as a civic education project for future presidential election cycles, this documentary encourages Americans to move beyond personalities, campaign slogans, and political marketing and focus instead on the evidence that helps determine whether a candidate is worthy of public trust.
Because before anyone is given the responsibility of leading America, one question must be answered: Why should we trust you with America?

The purpose of this series is to help Americans prepare for future presidential election cycles by providing practical tools for evaluating candidates fairly, thoughtfully, and independently.
In Part Two, the focus shifts from candidates to voters themselves. Through discussions on public service, truthfulness, transparency, campaign rhetoric, national unity, and political promises, listeners learn how to critically evaluate the messages and claims presented during election campaigns.
This section challenges citizens to look beyond applause, emotional appeals, and partisan loyalty in order to become informed participants in the democratic process.
Because democracy works best when voters make decisions based on evidence, character, and informed judgment rather than political marketing and popularity.
