This week, I wanted to take a step away from offering my own words, and rather lean on the spiritual wisdom of a great recent saint in the life of our Church— Saint Seraphim of Vyritsa. Saint Seraphim (Muraviev) was born in 1865 in Yaroslavl Province in Russia. He reposed in 1949 in the village of Vyritsa, in Leningrad. While we find Saint Seraphim among the contemporaries, in reality, he is one who in lived to see and experience far more than ourselves.
In his letter, entitled "This was from me,” St Seraphim provides a consolation and counsel to the bishop, to remind him that God the Creator is always with us. He writes the letter directly from the perspective of Christ addressing the soul of man:
